A woman close to our own hearts, Gehlhar is the Fashion Director of Gen Art, so she knows a thing or two about independent style. She's spent years helping fledgling designers make it in a tough industry, and her new tome is an instructional manual for would-be stylemakers complete with savvy business know-how and steps for building a brand. Essential advice is also contributed by successful young trendsetters and industry royalty alike, including Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger.
