Eye-Spying: Yohji and Linda's New Collabo
Over the years, Linda Farrow sunglasses have forged two traditions: a unique, dark severity and a continuous line of great guest designers. The original line founded by Farrow gained notoriety through the '70s, thanks particularly to the almost villainous wraparound shades favored by Yoko Ono. Since the line was reborn in 2003, it has continued its legacy of edgy design and added a carousel of new designer collaborations: Raf Simons, Luella Bartley, and Farrow's son (and creative director for Linda Farrow Vintage) Simon Jablon. Now Farrow's latest partner, Yohji Yamamoto, could be the most enigmatic of all.
Yohji Yamamoto's style and history are more well-known than Linda Farrow Vintage, so perhaps it's only fitting that Prototype*, the new line of four sunglasses, leans more toward its aesthetic. It would be wrong to call them minimalist—though the collection's concept points directly at the simplicity of industrial design. Futurist? Not quite. Sculptural? With Yamamoto's Eastern influence and Farrow's dark, European sensibilities, it's certainly a new shade of black on black.
Prototype* will be available at select department stores as well as select Yohji Yamamoto, Y's or Linda Farrow Gallery stores.
