Our voices are still sore from last night's epic Ray-Ban concert, with performances by Iggy Pop & The Stooges, and The Virgins at the Musical Hall in Williamsburg. The venerable line-up was celebrating the launch of Ray-Ban's new collection, Ray-Ban Aviator: The Essentials, with six dope styles that manage to update an already classic shape. Ray-Ban has always gone hand-in-hand with rock 'n' roll—though the aviators were originally designed in '37 for pilots, the shades have graced the peepers of everyone from Mick Jagger to Blondie. While the past and the present partied on, the new sunnies are mos def 2010, with crazy glossy colors like ice-blue and fuchsia, tone-on-tone lenses, leather detailing, and cutting-edge technology that make them super-strong. The off-the-chain fresh frames even come in an ultra-gold model, which is plated in 22kt gold. To fuse the 20th century with the 21st even more, Ray-Ban had bands like The Virgins and The Plastiscines decorate their own Aviators for a special, not-for-sale collection. While we wish we could score those frames, we're more than happy to settle for the brand new offerings. If Iggy can rock 'em, then so can we.
