What were your professional backgrounds before launching The Podolls?
Lauren: "I was working as a buyer at A-B Fits here in San Francisco. I loved traveling to the shows each season and curating the collections for our stores, but I secretly always wanted to be on the other side, designing. Meanwhile, Josh had just graduated from his MFA program in painting and was trying to figure out how to make a living as a creative soul."

Josh built the white shelves in the living room, and the couple organized the tomes by color to create a striking, rainbow-like display.
