Lauren Driscoll, manager, special programming & events, MOMA
The Events Department at MoMA is legendary, and was most recently the talk of the town when Kraftwerk sold out eight nights in seconds. Lauren helps maintain MoMA's reputation for cultural commitment and forward-thinking programming.
When did you first come to New York? How would you have defined your first year here?
"I moved to New York directly after graduating from college in 2006. I didn't have a job or an apartment, but had two wonderful friends who let me sleep on their couch for a couple months while searching for both. My first year here was amazing, but also terrifying (pretty typical). Everyone who has moved to NYC knows that looking for an apartment and a job at the same time is an awful idea, and will most certainly drive you to tears. But that's the thing about NYC...the lows make the highs so much sweeter, and when I landed my first job, it all seemed worth it."
If you could go back and tell yourself anything, what would it be?
"To trust my instincts."
