How did you get the job you have? What did you study in school, and does it help you today?
"When you are starting out, an interest in learning and working hard is important. My first connection with someone in the fashion industry was to a writer who visited my school to do an interview on collegiate fashion
(it's limited at Dartmouth!). She kept her ears open for me and alerted me to an open position in the Barneys fashion office. When you are starting out I don't think a specific background is required. An interest in
learning and working hard is important. I studied economics in college. I love the creative side of the fashion world as a whole balanced by the business structure of the retail side within fashion."
What piece of advice would you give anyone who would like to do what you are doing today? Any words of caution?
"Be open-minded. Every job is different and there is always something to learn from it. Each opportunity will help you understand what inspires you — sometimes by knowing what doesn't —which at the end of the day will keep you motivated."
