Name: Matt Galligan
Gig: CEO and co-founder of Circa, formerly co-founder of SimpleGeo and co-founder of Socialthing

What is your start-up all about?
"Circa is the first news publication created from the ground-up, specifically for consumption on smart phones."

How would you describe your style?
"I like classic, semi-preppy styles with a bit of edginess. I try to find one thing that might stand out with everything I put on — sometimes it's dress shoes with neon soles, sometimes it's a specific tie clip, sometimes it's a more fashion-forward jacket."

What are your go-to wardrobe staples?
"Selvedge denim, no question — I wear a pair at least fives days a week on average. They're super versatile and go with most everything. I'm also a huge fan of ties, something that's not very big in the San Francisco men's fashion scene."

Do you think it is fact or fiction that people assume folks who work in tech have bad fashion sense?
"That's a 100% spot-on fact. The average person in tech tends to dress for pure comfort. Hoodies, flip-flops, baggy jeans, and start-up schwag t-shirts. On one hand, I really wish more people would try a little harder, but on the other hand I've heard that the human brain only has the capacity for so many decisions in the course of a day. So, if you don't need to make a decision on what you're wearing — you just throw on whatever — you've got more decisions allocated for later in the day."

Matt looks sharp in a J.Crew shirt, Levi's pants, and Cole Haan shoes.
