MacDuffs: It would be a crime to head to Tahoe and not throw back a handcrafted brewskie. This Irish pub is an old-abode-turned-bar-and-resto and boasts a sweet wrap-around patio — perfect for summer nights (watch the sunset from here). It has a wide selection of beers and ciders, so come if you want to guzzle some brews in a homey, laid-back setting. Plus, its mascot (roaming around) is a loveable Rottweiler. Cute, much?
MacDuffs, 1041 Fremont Avenue (between Sandy Way and Mono Lane), South Lake Tahoe; 530-542-8777.

Whiskey Dick's: Don’t let the name steer you in the opposite direction. A good ol’ Tahoe dive bar (some locals dub it "punk rock") at its finest! And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Pop in for a game of billiards or shuffleboard, a cocktail, and live music — or just people-watch. Like most Tahoe watering holes, there’s tons of beer, but sip the Alice In Wonderland, it will knock your socks off … um, literally.
