Downtown Sound Kicks Off
Millenium Park's hugely popular concert season starts with a bang on Memorial Day. Songstress Kelly Hogan will take the stage, along with instrument-heavy band Scott Lucas + The Married Men, for an awesome night of tunes under the stars.
When: Monday, May 28, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Millenium Park, North Michigan Avenue and East Randolph Street; no phone.
Beauty Bar Customer Appreciation Night
Beauty Bar is thanking their loyal customers – with the help of PBR, naturally. They'll be having tons of Pabst-themed giveaways, discounts, and other shenanigans. Even if you're not a loyal customer, it's pretty hard to turn down cheap (and free!) PBR. RSVP to register for the giveaways.
When: Thursday, May 31, 9 p.m.
Where: Beauty Bar, 1444 West Chicago Avenue (at Bishop Street); 312-226-8828.
Craft Bar
As a sign of the season, this month's theme of the monthly DIY meetup is wedding crafts. Get together with fellow artsy folk to enjoy drinks and snacks — because we know you have to have a friend getting hitched. They'll provide all the materials and instruction, so all you need to bring is some fabulous ideas.
When: Friday, June 1st, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Mignonette Bridal, 1747 West Belmont (between Ravenswood Avenue and Paulina Street); 773-880-9141.
Battles at Bottom Lounge
High energy band Battles have just released their remix album Dross Glop, and they'll be giving you a live look at the tracks during this Saturday's show.
When: Saturday, June 2 6:30 p.m.
Where: Bottom Lounge, 1375 West Lake Street (between Loomis and Ada Streets); 312-666-6775.
Iggy Azalea at Reggie's Rock Club
The Australian singer and rapper will be bring her signature sound to Chicago this weekend. See the phenom (she started rapping at age 14!), who has performed with the likes of Diplo, for a bargain basement price.
When: Saturday, June 2, 8 p.m.
Where: Reggie's Rock Club, 2109 South State Street (at East 21st Street); 312-949-0121.
