Get Schooled On D.C.’s Fashion Scene With Style Studies

stylesudiesslide
D.C.'s fashion scene has been steadily moving into the limelight over the past several years, and a growing number of bloggers, designers, and entrepreneurs have the collective wealth of information at their fingertips. As a young professional with stylish ambitions, wouldn't it be so handy if you could tap into that expertise? Now, with Style Studies DC, you can. The local org aims to introduce industry novices and students to the local scene by connecting them with small business owners, fashion photographers, indie designers, and more.
Next week, you can attend a three-day series of seminars dubbed The Basics, which will focus on different aspects of District fashion and show newcomers how to break into the bubble. Panelists include Katerina Herodotou of Meeps and Treasury and Kate Warren of Go Kate Shoot. Topics range from building your brand to making a profit. The series ends with a pop-up shop that will showcase local clothing and accessory designers, vintage boutiques, and artists. For $7 per seminar, it's a steal — and why settle for being a bystander when you can be part of the game?
When: Seminars are Monday, April 8, through Wednesday, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m.; pop-up shop is Thursday, April 11, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Ulysses Room, 52 O Street NW; no phone. Email for more info.
