Liza Sweitzer: Director of Brand Development
Tell us about your role?
"I work on the business side and act as a liaison between Splash and other departments of the Sun-Times, such as sales, marketing, production, etc."
What do you love the most about working at Splash?
"Our team is amazing. We genuinely all get along and have so much fun together. Which, considering the hours we work, is key."
What's your favorite sweet treat from the candy room?
"M&Ms. If you grab a small handful every now and then, you don't feel so guilty."
What has been your most memorable work moment so far?
"Seeing our very first issue. Susanna and I went to the printers and watched it come off of the press. We were like giddy little schoolgirls!"
Molly Each: Managing Editor
Tell us about your role?
"I'm the managing editor, so I work with all the words and generally, um, manage the Sunday Splash publication. I help conceptualize the issue, write, and edit stories, work with our awesome freelance writers, and make several rounds of edits to get the pages ready to go to press. Then, we close the issue and start it all over again."
What do you love the most about working at Splash?
"When I walk through the halls and see the black and white Sun-Times photos of iconic moments and people in history, it always hits me in this awesome way that I work at one of the biggest and most influential newspapers in the country. It's so cool. But I think the best part is our team. It's truly one of the nicest and most hilarious groups of people I have ever worked with. We laugh a ton and we always have each other's backs. It's so fun to come to work every day."
What's your favorite sweet treat from the candy room?
"Tough one! I know it's not popular, but Bit-O-Honey's are totally my go-to. It's an underrated candy. If I need some chocolate, a fun-size Butterfinger or Snickers always hits the spot."
What has been your most memorable work moment so far?
"Interviewing Scottie Pippen at his dining room table, for sure. And then when I ran into him at the Bulls gala and he greeted me like we were old friends — it was a magic moment. I also just got to interview Stephen Colbert, who I have loved since the Strangers With Candy days."
