We’re Sensing A Trend: More Socks And Sandals From Prada

marc-by-marc-jacobs
UPDATE:Thought that Marc Jacobs combo was bad? Well, prepare to be shocked. Prada, never one to be out-buzzed, rolled our double platforms paired with — wait for it — leather socks at the show in Milan. While this may seem like a glorified way to make your feet sweat like crazy, we're spotting a real trend here. And given the success of Prada's hemp platform oxfords (also once deemed too ugly to see the light of day), we won't be surprised if a bit of leather starts peaking out from the shoes of It Girls everywhere. Whether or not they'll choose to wear 'em with sandals? All bets are off.

As Anna Dello Russo personally advised us, there are no rules when it comes to fashion. However, yesterday's Marc by Marc Jacobs presentation proved that limits were meant to be pushed. While the majority of the presentation delivered an eclectic mix of grunge meets chic, one of the most puzzling pairs we spotted was that of the wedged flip-flops and knit socks.
We won't poo-poo all the sandal-and-socks combos — because, we admit, they have their place — but we wonder if this thong trend has any staying power. It could be the coolest new way to wear socks, or it could just look like you ran out the house and the only shoes you could find were the slip-ons by the front door.
Let us know where you stand below — do you observe the no-socks-with-sandals rule, or are you willing to break them with Marc Jacob?
