40 Under 40: Craft Futures
at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery has brought together some amazing young artists working in the fields of contemporary craft and decorative arts. Each of them was asked to submit a short video — and while all the budding talents are impressive, jewelry designer Melanie Bilenker, 34, really caught our eye.
While only 56 seconds long, her super-engrossing clip (with peppy indie-pop background music, of course) walks her through her delicate work process, as she uses a blade and, in homage to the Victorians, her own hair, to craft a masterpiece.
