Vena Cava's Sophie Buhai Won't Eat Chinese Food, Is Scared of Making Roux, and Likes Bacon Appetizers

sophie-buhai-food-vena-cava-1.jpgThere are two great loves in my life: Fashion and food. Throw them together and I'm practically in heaven, which is why food blog Lottie + Doof's Q&A with Vena Cava designer Sophie Buhai was especially drool-inducing and visually enticing. In it, Sophie shares her great loves (white chocolate, chicken curry sandwich with fig jam, bacon chocolate bar...a girl after my heart, I tell you!), as well as her mean guacamole recipe, L.A style. It involves serrano chiles and no garlic! Although I'm a devoted garlic user when it comes to guac, perhaps I'll be trying out Sophie's version at my next patio, er, fire escape dinner party. Click over to Lottie + Doof for the recipe, as well as more of Sophie's witty verbal gems, including how cooking is like designing because there are many styles such as "minimalist, conceptualist, organic-purist, [and] punk-vegan." She also claims that if she could return as any vegetable, she'd return as a "hot date." So would we, Sophie. So would we.
