They’ve kept an ode to the past (the building still boasts The Ritz Plaza at the top), while the name of the hotel lingers inconspicuously above the grand entrance, welcoming you to the world of SLS. The lobby boasts a black, red, and white color scheme with velvet curtains, a grand chandelier of sea shells, and a pool deck of lush cabanas. Refreshing cocktails were served at Hyde Beach, the SLS’s pool lounge and bar — picture Uncle Bill’s tacky Hawaiian Bungalow (if you have an uncle Bill) with seductive hula girl lamps and bobblehead dolls and palm tree cushions. Sadly, the event had to end at some point, but we are certain of one thing: The cool ambiance, delicious cuisine, and superb service are sure to make the SLS the new spot for the who’s who of Miami. Have we told you we love it?
