Stumbling upon notable names in fashion is no easy feat in S.F., but you’d better believe that the crop of design-driven individuals we do have here are a force to be reckoned with. And one person that continues to play a major role in fostering S.F.'s style-focused minds, is none other than the Academy of Art University’s Simon Ungless. The cheeky director of fashion is gearing up for his students’ spring ’13 show in NYC, and just so happened to shoot the breeze with The Cut — opening up to the site about his close friend Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, London fashion, living in Northern California, and … strangely, even Heidi Montag.
“I had a student say to me, 'Should I go to Hollywood?' and, 'I've met a producer who can turn me into a celebrity. Will I get my line quicker?' And I said, 'Yeah, go to Hollywood.' Because anyone who has that mentality, I don't really want them around me. Funny — that was Heidi Montag, actually," Ungless told The Cut.
