Keep your head in check with our 15+ hats for fall. By Christene Barberich & Piera Gelardi

From left:Top Shop Top Hat, $40, available at Top Shop; Karen Walker Peak Snow Hat, $173, available at La Garçonne.
Here at Refinery29, we are an extremely hat-happy bunch. With the turning of the leaves, we're all digging out our coziest Borsalinos, knit caps, and vintage fedoras. And we don't believe you have to be a "hat person" to partake either. Discovering that first perfect design that frames the face beautifully and adds a subtle mystique is the secret weapon every good hat should have.
Now for the good part: We've rounded up no less than 16 for you to try on for size. Among our favorites: Steven Alan's plush Sabina beret (very Faye Dunaway), A.P.C's wool cap (Mary Poppins/Dick Van Dyke chic?), and definitely Urban Outfitters no-nonsense felt bowler (a steal and a timeless one at that!).
Parting advice: Don't go trendy! If you love a fedora, try to find one with a less predictable shape, maybe with a more dramatic rim or a really luxurious fabric like cashmere. And if you really want to be original, head to the tippy-top of custom hat-making, Barbara Feinman in the East Village. Her original Bacall hat is one of our favorites.

Clockwise, from left: Urban Outfitters Feather Cloche Hat, $42, available at Urban Outfitters; Top Shop Sequin Beret, $32, available at Top Shop; Steven Alan Sabina Beret, $175, available at Steven Alan.

From left: Urban Outfitters Felt Bowler, $38, available at Urban Outfitters; A.P.C. Striped Knit Cap, $70, available at A.P.C.

Clockwise, from top left: Top Shop Felt Trilby Hat, $40, available at NAME; Bailey Ephod Hat, $47, available at Hats.com; A.P.C. Wool Cap, $110, available at A.P.C..
