12 pairs of big, bad, beautiful boots all under $300. By Christene Barberich & Piera Gelardi

Above, from left: Jeffrey Campbell Dakota Boots, $138, available at Oak; Laredo Lacer Roper Toe Boots, $94.99 (were $114.99), available at Outdoor Headquarters.
It's always the same: You spend all of November and December masterminding your fool-proof gift list plan, getting everyone you love all the coolest, best presents you can find. As good as all that giving feels, sometimes a girl just needs a little something for herself. Since we're not in the business of wasting time or money, we've decided to skip over all the fashion frou frou and deliver a round-up of shoes you can really use all year long—truly great boots under $300.
But don't let the price-tags fool you—we've picked a short list of looks that pack quality and style in equal measure. In fact, our favorite seasonless Minnetonka boot (dresses, jeans, shorts, you name it), are just $42. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

Above, from left: Jeffrey Campbell Lace-Up Bootie, $150, available at Urban Outfitters; Topshop Bambi Over the Knee Boot, $200, available at Topshop.
