Nashville Twang: Karen Elson Goes Retail at Venus & Mars—The Showroom

As you've no doubt guessed from our mix of eBay suggestions and brand-new designers, we like to mix our old with a healthy dose of new. A perfect example, we love that on-the-edge model, performer with the Citizens Band, and Mrs.Jack White's, Karen Elson (above), has joined forces with Venus & Mars owner Amy Patterson to open vintage boutique Venus & Mars—The Showroom in Nashville on October 23. Located in one of the south's best, and most overlooked, stylish cities, Venus & Mars—The Showroom will be stocked with rare high-end vintage duds for men and women (with the option of custom tailoring in-house), upping the profile and selection of what was already, in the words of GQ, "the best clothing store in America" two years in a row. Says Elson, "The aim of the store is to encourage shoppers to think that vintage isn't just an old hand-me-down but a one-of-a-kind garment with a wonderful history." As if we needed convincing.
Opening October 23, Venus and Mars—The Showroom is located at 2009 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville; www.myspace.com/venusandmarstheshowroom. For more information go to www.venusandmarsvintage.com.
