Just Opened: Them Atelier & Front St Bring Some Fresh Shop Opps to L.A.

Above: Them Atelier
Most Angelenos know this underpass as the entrance to the Echoplex music venue, but the Sunset/Glendale Blvd. junction is no longer reserved exclusively for rock shows. Now, you'll find a fresh trio of designers who've banded together to open a new shop housing two promising outposts: Front St and Them Atelier. David Hershberger of Endovanera discovered the Echo Park space and renovated what was said to be "an old mattress store painted like a fiesta inside." Now, the address is marked by pristine walls, which punctuate the signature tailored slacks and blazers we can't get enough of from his coveted label. It's also home to the label's lower price-point line called Nortwick. One-off pieces by local designers Scout, Himiku, and Dawn Sharp also fill the lineup. Soon after, Brian S. Kim (alum of retired denim shop Work) and wife Olga Nazarova got on board offering their latest gift to the denim world, Them Atelier—a custom and ready-to-wear workshop. The jeans are basic, minimal and elegant, but gritty enough for the likes of local eastsiders and their pockets, starting at just $75!
Them Atelier, 1160 Glendale Blvd., 213-843-8540; Front St, 1154 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, 213-413-6666.
