Garden-Fresh Produce: Clary Sage Organic's Green Style for San Francisco

csg0915.jpg

For the crunchies of the Bay Area, eco-friendly living is more than just a trend—it's an established lifestyle with deep, deep roots. Thankfully though, being green by the Bay has grown well beyond composting and fair-trade hippie smocks. Throughout the last season or so, stores with a heavy focus on green living have been popping up around San Francisco. The newest to join the organic cornucopia is Clary Sage Organics. Named after a Mediterranean herb used in essential oils, Clary Sage stocks its own eponymous collection made from organic cotton farmed in California's Central Valley, as well as organic cotton piece from Loomstate, fair trade-made blouses from Edun, dresses and sweaters from Prairie Underground and Linda Loudermilk, and sustainable, organic knits from Peligrosa—which donates a portion of net proceeds to non-profit programs. The shop stocks a smattering of body and facial products—you guessed it—are all made of organic and sustainable materials-including London-based Ren, Bay Area brand Juice Beauty, and so many more.
Dan Kalish and Patti Cazatto—who also designed the sleek store interiors—opened the Pacific Heights shop to promote their philosophy of living "healthy outside and healthy inside." So stop in, refresh your look, and reduce your carbon footprint.

Clary Sage is located at 2241 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, 415-673-7300; www.clarysageorganics.com.
