From the Wang Sample Sale Frontlines: More Squeals Than Deals
"Recession" is the word of the moment, but you wouldn't know it elbowing your way through the Alexander Wang sample sale this morning. A mad herd of wild Wangsters swept through the showroom, stepping on piles of wools and silks while scooping up armfuls of merchandise, much of which wasn't even marked down to eBay prices. We had a shopping list for the battle ahead: Wang's signature shorts, tanks and tees, and maybe a jacket. We left with none of the above. Our scores—silk white tank, $80, black silk button skirt, $60, and a heather gray cashmere sweater, $60. For $250+ cocktail dresses and $300+ jackets, and a fight, it's the place.
