These Designs Give Nail Art A New Meaning

We tend to agree with nail artists when they refer to fingers as their canvas. After all, the mini creations they whip up are nothing short of tiny bursts of artistic genius. Those painstaking designs take tons of patience (and talent) to execute, that’s for sure. But, SFMOMA, S.F.’s Asian Art Museum, and TopCoat take that credo one step beyond by actually tapping inspiration from works by famous artists including Marilyn Minter, Jeff Koons, Bruce Conner, and more, and rendering them into the finest nails we’ve seen yet.
The lookbook for Gorgeous is a visual celebration honoring the exhibit of the same name — opening June 20, at the Asian Art Museum. The collection showcases everything from the extreme to the ambiguous, with pieces like Minter’s mud-drenched heel painting and Koons’ over-the-top Michael Jackson and Bubbles sculpture. Take a peek at the gallery of fancy digits and be sure to check out the show to see these iterations, IRL!
