Southern Dame: The Style of Elvis Presley's Moll

In the 1958 film King Creole, Carolyn Jones plays Ronnie, the Elvis Presley love interest and gun moll—a Delta siren whose life has turned into an endless martini hour. Clad in clingy knits and bullet bras courtesy of famed costumer Edith Head, and sporting an adorable, flyaway gamine bob, Ronnie has the perfect cocktail-hour wardrobe to match her self-destructive habits.
With her alluring eyes, penciled brows and unique haircut, Ronnie's smoky seductress style is both provocative and elegant. A light-knit, fitted dress with an Alaia-esque geometric cut-out detail on the back is glamorous in it's slinky minimalism. The modern silhouette of her feminine 1950's style is achieved by accentuated waists, lean lines and understated accessories.
From a torch song siren and honor-roll student to mistress of the Blue Shade nightclub, Ronnie's favored abettors are a pair of stiletto heels, a bottle of champagne, and a wry comeback. But she's no wench. The stunning neckline details and calf-length hemlines on her scoop-front sequin dress and a fitted, printed cocktail gown add an urbane sophistication to Ronnie's sexy Bayou charm.
Sexy Fall knits are perfect for Ronnie's elegant mistress style. The black double v-neck raffia dress by Tom Scott is perfectly provocative when paired with the two-piece high-heel pump from Opening Ceremony and a zippered clutch by Alexander Wang.
