Party Girl: The Flirty Tomboy Style of Claudine Longet

In Blake Edwards 1968 film The Party French yé-yé girl and actress of unfortunate notoriety Claudine Longet plays Peter Sellers' demure love interest "Michele Monet." Starting out as just another winsome waif in a mini-dress, Michele dons some accidental attire and loosens up to become the party's effortlessly chic standout.

Wearing a cute but formal 1960's jeweled bodice chiffon dress, matching yellow kitten heels, diamond earrings, and sleek brown hair, Michele attends an ostentatious cocktail party as a delicate would-be starlet. Looking tense on the arm of a boorish producer, her subtly is lost amongst the bewigged and drunken guests.
Diving into the pool to save a drowning man, Michele changes into a pair of teenage boy's blue denim jeans, a loose-fitting, collarless, heather-gray "Love thy neighbor" sweatshirt ,and sexy, carefree wet hair.
Michele continues on buoyantly dancing barefoot in bubbles. Her social restraints and shoes have been tossed aside, and, riding a baby elephant victoriously, she is the life of The Party.
In the August heat you can stay cool and debonair with Maison Martin Margiela cork pumps, Generic Girl jeans by Acne, and a lightweight cotton unisex sweatshirt by Cosmic Wonder. Accessorize with Lisa Levine's diamond crust bracelet. For an extra bit of flair, pull out that baby elephant you've been keeping in the wardrobe.
