Can’t Wait For The Schiaparelli Relaunch? Unfortunately, You’ll Have To

If good things come to those who wait, we'll be patiently twiddling out thumbs for the relaunch of Schiaparelli — even longer than expected, it seems.
Coinciding with the MET Costume Institute exhibit, "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations," the original news of the Italian design house's return told us to expect a new designer to be announced this month and a collection to debut by early 2013. But, of course, running fashionably late, it looks as though we'll sadly have to wait 'til summer '13.
Farida Khelfa, the Maison Schiaparelli brand ambassador, simply responded to the new designer inquiry with "We hope soon," earlier this week at an event in honor of curator Dilys Blum. A celebrated Elsa Schiaparelli expert, Blum spoke to the late Schiapparelli's iconic and historic designs, which span far beyond just clothing. Undoubtably, there is quite a legacy to live up to, but who would have guessed that finding a designer would have been so difficult? We'll keep our ears peeled, but in the meantime, let us know in the comments who you hope will take on the challenge. (WWD)
