1. Finnish Folklore. "Finland's national epic The Kalevala is such a favorite of mine. It's a collection of wonderful poetry compiled by Elias Lönnrot from Finnish and Karalian folklore. The Kalevala has been the inspiration behind my new range of silk-screen prints to be released later this year.
2. Children's Books. "I collect children's picture books from the '50s to '70s. My favorite children's book illustrator/author is Tove Jansson, the creator of the Moomins. Her three picture books Who Will Comfort Toffle?, The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My and The Dangerous Journey are must-haves! Tove Jansson created such imaginative worlds filled with delightful and intriguing creatures. Her stories always had scary parts, too, which I loved as a kid!

3. Lotte Reiniger. "I'm currently loving the silhouette animation of Lotte Reiniger, a German animator and director who was around in the 1920s. One of my favorite films of hers is "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" from 1926. It is beautifully animated with decorative and simplistic shapes that captures the essence of the story so well."
4. Color. "It's a fascinating subject to read about. Seven Deadly Colours by Andrew Parker is an amazing read. It discusses the miracle that is Nature's palette and uses examples of how color has affected animals from different environments. Each chapter concentrates on a color from the spectrum. Another good read is Victoria Finlay's Colour: Travels through the Paintbox. This book explores the origins of different pigments—it's a wonderful collection of true stories, anecdotes, and historical fact."
