Thirsty? Check Out S.F.'s Newest Wine Truck!

wine-truck-300 Just when we thought the mobile movement couldn't get any bigger — from auto boutiques to coffee shops on wheels — Healdsburg-based winery Simi is upping the ante with a snazzy little vino vehicle. That's right, a truck with the sole purpose of delivering Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon en masse. Um, it's about time!

Because we consider booze one of the most underrated sections of the food pyramid, this might just be the best thing to happen to our diets since the invention of the mimosa. But, even better than the classic combo of champagne and OJ is a full-bodied red matched with smooth jazz, dontcha think? And, luckily, the truck's final destination will be the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, where guests can enjoy soulful sounds while sipping Simi's tasty pours. Sounds like the perfect pairing! (Don't forget to look at our roadtrip guide to the area, while you're out there!)

And what would a wine tasting be without an assortment of finger foods to nosh on? Simi's executive chef will be serving up Sonoma-inspired small bites, so come hungry...and thirsty. Not that we needed to tell you that!

When: Friday, June 8, 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Healdsburg Jazz Festival at the Raven Performing Arts Theater, 115 North Street (at Center Street); 707-433-6335.

Pie Lovers, Rejoice! A New Pizza Truck Debuts In SoMa

Del Popolo 3x4 While we love grabbing juicy tacos and decadent desserts from a truck, when it comes to savory slices of pizza, food carts aren’t exactly the first place we’d look for some dough-y goodness. Until now, that is. Starting tomorrow, S.F.'ers can grab slices of top-notch Neapolitan-style pies that come fire-roasted from a custom, see-it-to-believe-it truck created by former Flour + Water chef, Jonathon Darsky.

The tricked-out Del Popolo truck was once a shipping container and now boasts a 5,000 pound (!!) oven that made the trip all the way from Naples. Now you can peep the wonder on wheels parked outside Bar Agricole, while Darsky serves up classic margherita and white pie with rapini slices. And, at $7 a pop, we’ll happily take both. See you at the front of the line!

When: Starting Tuesday, May 15, lunchtime
Where: Outside of Bar Agricole, at 11th and Folsom streets

Go Inside The Offices Of Flour + Water, Central Kitchen, & More

When we got a tip that the offices of the Ne Timeas Restaurant Group — a.k.a. the overseeing organization behind hotter-than-hot properties Flour + Water, Central Kitchen, and the soon-to-open Salumeria — had been revamped, we jumped at the chance to get a behind-the-scenes peak at the budding foodie empire. And, we must say, we were impressed.

It's the first office project of Tobi Adamolekun, an architect who's also logged in time with Zaha Hadid in London and R&Sie(n) in Paris and currently has a $15,000 Kickstarter campaign for a woodsy eyeglasses case. The folks at Ne Timeas were looking for a clean, open, and organized space that could fit plenty of people, to further their growing culinary vision.

In response, Adamolekun upgraded the desks, shelves, and filing cabinets, inspired by a seven-course tasting menu, the "Feast of the Seven Fishes," he'd had at Flour + Water. "There's a sequence to how the space is experienced in the same way that a tasting menu is experienced," he explains.

Check it out after the jump!

3 Local Juice Cleanses To Help You Get Hot & Healthy For Summer

With a rare heat streak blanketing San Francisco, those year-round layers are finally coming off. Which means, we're thinking about our bodies a little bit more, especially with bikini season firmly on the horizon. One solid way to start rethinking the way we eat and kick-start weight loss? That'd be a cleanse (as long as you don't go back to the Oreos right after you finish).

And with our local focus on amazing and organic produce, the juice cleanse companies bubbling up in the Bay Area are obviously top of the line. To help you figure out which you should invest in (if any at all), your trusty R29 staffers took it upon themselves to swear off solids for three days at a time and put these four locally crafted cleanses to the test. Read what we thought about each, and get tips on some of the cool new cleanse-friendly spots about to pop up around town. Now that's juicy!

The Babes Behind Scribe Winery Show Off Their Gorgeous Workplace

Sure, there's a whole lot of pretty happening in wine country, but we'd have to say that one of the most inspiring spots we've laid eyes on is Sonoma's relative newcomer, Scribe winery. What cultish Four Barrel is to the local coffee scene, that's pretty much what Scribe has become to the wine world in just three short years. It's a place where young folks flock for a country-cool adventure, complete with rope swings overlooking palm trees and vines, chic dinner parties catered by some of the Bay's finest, a 100-year-old hacienda to explore, and a host of stylish staffers to make every amateur oenophile feel at home.

For a virtual tour of the dreamy property, we tapped three of Scribe's PYTs who help run the digs. And trust: They're all as fashionable as they are talented. Take a look, and schedule your next road trip accordingly.

Fiesta Time! Celebrate Cinco De Mayo With S.F.'s Best Mexi Grub

Nopalita 3x4 TGIF, folks! A definite highlight of this oncoming weekend? Obviously, Saturday’s Cinco de Mayo! Of course, with our city's rich Latino past and present, there's nothing quite like celebrating Mexican heritage right here in San Francisco, especially if you're headed to any of the plethora of top-notch Mexi eateries scattered about town. Luckily, instead of picking favorites, you can get your grub and Cinco de Drinko on in one spot on Saturday night, thanks to the second-annual Hecho En San Francisco bash.

Head to the Ferry Building to indulge in a wide variety of handcrafted tequila cocktails and beers, which can be used to wash down an amazing array of bites from local eateries, such as Nopalita, Tacolicious, La Torta Gorda, and many more. Ay-yi-yi!

Ready to fiesta? All you need to do is scoop up your tickets to this outdoor soiree (that benefits Cuesa and La Cocina!) and be prepared to eat all the tamales you can handle!

2 Girls, 8 Looks: The Rice Paper Scissors Gals Show Off Their Yummy Style

There's nothing surprising about seeing a pop-up restaurant around these parts, but there is something completely special about learning that the women behind one of the hottest endeavors in town are as stylish as their meals are scrumptious. And that's precisely the case with Valerie Luu and Katie Kwan, owners of bahn mi-focused foodie favorite, Rice Paper Scissors.

The twenty-something gals, who met while working at S.F.'s storied Underground Market, have made quite the name for themselves by peddling grub inspired by Vietnamese street food. Even Anthony Bourdain has fallen for their charms, and after dining with them and playing dress up for a few hours, we can totally understand why. Keep clicking to meet the dynamic duo and see the go-to spring ensembles that work both in the kitchen (clogs! aprons!) and for after-work chillin' (Muumuu Wednesday coffee parties, anyone?). Yeah, smitten. We know.

Meet The Man Behind Four Barrel In This Rad "American Hipster" Video

Sure, our fine city is rife with local coffee wars. But one would be hard pressed to find a cooler mug than the ones served up at the Mission's gorgeous Four Barrel java spot (except, of course, at the other locales that dish the cult-followed coffee: F.S.C. Barber, Reveille Coffee Co., etc.).

Rarely, however, do we get an up-close-and-personal look at the man behind the beans, founder Jeremy Tooker. So, we're of course extra fascinated by the latest episode of "American Hipster," which focuses on Tooker and his local empire of cool.

Watch the clip to find out more about how Tooker is trying to change perceptions of high-end coffee shops (starting with the "snotty barista" phenomenon), peep some heart-warming shots of him hanging with his family, and hear about the plans for his soon-to-open "less intentionally cool" cafe and bakery project on Divisadero and Grove.

Love this video as much as we do? Be sure to check out the rest of the S.F.-centric "American Hipster" episodes here.
