Amelie Le Bar a Vin
This tiny ambient-lit wine bar in Nob Hill is the perfect reason to get a little closer. Shimmy up next to your honey as you peruse an extensive menu of 300+ wines — an impressive 75 are available by the glass. To go with your drinks are bistro bites like duck confit, charcuterie, and must-try ravioles, a whole-wheat pasta stuffed with comte cheese and truffles, flown in from the French town of Valence (just don’t call them ravioli, warns the menu!). There’s live jazz on Sundays, and on the speakers gravely voiced chansons crooning slowed-down covers. If all this doesn’t transport you to Paris, the eager-to-please bartenders and handsome French co-owner, Germain Michel, certainly will. We know you’re on a date, but a girl can look, n’est-ce pas?
