Wedding Album: A Creative Director's Barn-Side Day In The Country

When both people live, work, and play in the city, it's hard to imagine a world outside of concrete, take-out orders, and the low hum of traffic and sirens. But for art director Roanne Adams of RoAndCo, when it came time to plan a wedding, she wanted to look outside of Manhattan.
For two city mice, a wedding in the country was the perfect respite. Armed with their (very crafty) friends, good eats, and a beautiful Vena Cava dress, Roanne and Johnny Wahba tied the knot outside a barn in upstate New York. Check out the beautiful photos from their big day, and try not to gawk at how stunning Ro looked.

"I had the a hard time finding the perfect dress in stores, so thankfully, my design-school buddies, Lisa and Sophie of Vena Cava, agreed to make me a custom wedding dress. Thanks to them, I felt like myself on one of the most important days of my life!"

"We got married at this amazing dutch barn called Circa 1799 in Ancramdale, NY. The weather was perfect — not a cloud in the sky. It was like heaven on earth that evening."

"We hired a quartet of classically trained musicians who are also in various NYC bands. During the ceremony, they played Bach, but during cocktail hour, we had them play some of our favorite songs like Metallica's "Orion" and Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" in an acoustic/classical style, so both the 'kids' and 'adults' could enjoy!"

"I hate it when bridesmaids all wear the same dress and some of the girls look hot in it, while others don't! Thankfully, I found Amsale which allowed my ladies to pick a color and a style within the same length and fabric. I picked out four different colors and they picked out which top/fit worked best for their body type. I thought they all looked stunning!"

"I had Saipua create our flower arragements. I got the colorful bouquet, and my bridesmaids got all white dahlias."

"The kiss! Our ceremony was nothing short of emotional, beautiful, happy, and filled with love. The altar canopy behind us was made from my Mom's dress. Traci Kaye of Four Branches sewed it together and embroidered our 'RJ' monogram onto it. The actual structure was built by our other good friend Peter Klein, and a few other dudes who lent a helping hand. Our friends and family all contributed to make our day incredibly special."

"My Mom and I bought antique tea kettles and vases for the flowers to go in, and our friends lent us the the brass candlestick holders they used at their wedding. Every object on the table was thought out down to the table numbers on the water bottles. Oh, the joys of planning a wedding!"
