Rick Owens' Exhibition Launches Tomorrow

Normally, when we think Rick Owens, our mind goes to Andrew Mukamal and lust-worthy leather leggings, not furniture. Well get ready to switch gears for a minute, with Owens' new exhibition, "Pavane For A Dead Princess," which opens tomorrow at Salon 94 | Rudy Weissenberg. Named after a famous Ravel composition, the show, with furniture made by the haute-goth designer, coincides with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), which opens next week. Slick Rick will transform the gallery into a contemporary sleeping quarter inspired by his Parisian apartment. Just like his pioneering fashion, Owens mixes basic materials with the luxe—think marble, resin, and horn juxtaposed with concrete and plywood. Referencing everyone from Le Corbusier to Donald Judd, look for a curvilinear headboard above a low bed, a floor-to-ceiling sheared mink curtain, and a elongated daybed with alabaster elements. Can we expect an Architectural Digest cover next?
Opening Saturday (tomorrow) May 8th, Salon 94, 6-8p.m.
