Fit Lust: Colorful Workout Capris

My entire life is basically one massive fitness bender. I test out new classes, apparel, and gear like it's my job (actually, it is) — which is how this weekly column was born. People always ask me which workout stuff is really worth it, so here’s what I absolutely can’t exercise without.
This Week: Colorful Capris
My Pick: Prana Misty Knicker
It’s hard to play favorites with workout capris, because there are SO MANY that I love. But, Prana's Misty Knicker capri is a pleasant surprise that I can’t get enough of.
The brand is a favorite among yogis, but I can't remember the last time I was in a yoga studio. (I do enjoy getting my asana on, but I’m crushing hardcore on HIIT workouts at the moment.) So, when I tested out the Misty Knickers a few months ago, I wasn’t expecting the “chakra performance” pair to hold up through my intense boot camp classes. Still, I was in love with the jacquard pattern and bold, red-meets-pink, “boysenberry” hue. But, we all know looks shouldn't be the ultimate deciding factor when it comes to gym wear — performance should be.
So, I tried the pants on. I barely hit 5’1” and this capri-length pant fit me perfectly, ending right under the knee, without a ton of extra fabric or awkward bunching. The material was thick enough to feel comfortable during bends and stretches, but not so thick that I felt restricted in movement.
My thighs are muscular, which can sometimes make patterned pants look distorted, but this delicate — and classy — woven print is just as beautiful on as off. And, I hate carrying a thousand things when I go for a run, so bottoms with a hidden key pocket like the Misty Knickers' are heavily used in my leggings rotation. I tested them out for an intense boot camp class: zero visible crotch sweat. I was impressed.
I don’t always wear non-black leggings, but when I do, I prefer them to be bright and functional.
