An Amazing New Online Bridal Registry That Celebrates Local Love

2
Truth: Planning a wedding can be pretty darn stressful. Luckily, a must-do ritual like registering is as exciting as curating your Christmas wish list. But since this is the first (and hopefully) last time you get to strategically choose goodies without having to pay for them, you better make it count.
Now, we said registering was fun — but we didn't necessarily say it was easy. You really have to narrow down the stores that are going make up your ultimate wish list — or do you? Enter Poladora, an online site that serves as an amalgamation of multiple Chicago retailers, resulting in one heck of an amazing registry. Even cooler, it's the brainchild of a local lady by the name of Stephanie Pirishis.

Poladora (the combination of the Greek words “Pola” and “Dora” to literally mean "many gifts") was born out of her frustration of trying to register for her own wedding a few years ago. She craved more unique, fun finds that you just can't find at your average mass retailer (sound familiar?). So, Poladora does just that by supporting local businesses and hidden gems that offer one-of-a-kind finds. Here's how it works:

1. You register for gifts you want to receive.

2. Your friends and fam purchase items from your list.

3. Poladora notifies you when an item has been purchased from your list.

4. If you want the item, Poladora will ship it to you. If you want to wait and see what else you get, you get to keep the value of that item to use as a credit toward any other retailer in the partner network.

Pretty awesome, right? If you want to meet Pirishis in the flesh, then swing by Centered Chef on Ada Street for the official Poladora launch party, taking place tonight (February 28) from 6 to 9 p.m. This free event will be filled with eats, cocktails, wedding trend ideas from top Chicago vendors, mini beauty services, and more. Simply RSVP to rsvp@poladora.com and let the registry games begin!
