Call it denim exhaustion, call it a desire for ankle freedom, call it whatever you want, but it seems that people are so over skinny jeans and are yearning for a new look. Of course, one of the best ways to anticipate an upcoming trend is to reflect back on styles from our fashion history. One of our favorite denim blasts from the past, which appears to be topping the must-have list for fall, is flare jeans.
For many of us, flares give us flashbacks to our high school years. I personally used to pair my light-wash, whiskered Mudd flare jeans with ubiquitous baby tees from Delia's and chunky platform Steve Madden sandals (it was the early 2000s, after all). But my personal style has evolved from its sophomoric sartorial state, and I would never endorse a combo like that now, unless you were attending a #TBT-themed party.
