The Week in Photos: R29 Photog Ben Gallardo Shoots, He Scores
This Fashion Week, we were lucky to have photographer Benjamin Gallardo's uncanny eye at the Benjamin Cho, Yigal Azrouël, Jeremy Laing, VPL, Kai Kühne, and Zero Maria Cornejo shows. Here's a recap of his busy, flash-strobed week.
Kai Kühne, 8:18 p.m. "I really like all the shots I took of people in the front row—it's like a ritual and forum for people to express themselves. This reminds me of a Gary Winogrand shot."
Jeremy Laing, 8:47 a.m. "I'm backstage... it's crowded and getting hectic."
VPL, 1:02 p.m. "I took this shot just before my flash had a nervous breakdown and started literally bubbling the batteries inside. Thankfully I was able to get this shot off beforehand of this girl looking quite cool peering out from under her hair."

Benjamin Cho, 6:45 p.m. "The Benjamin Cho show was a star-studded affair. I love this photo of MK caught in action."

Kai Kühne, 7:50 p.m. and Yigal Azrouël 11:42 p.m "I love how both these girls look like they are in some kind of crazy Jetson's beauty factory!"

Benjamin Cho, 6:50 p.m. "The lights were all dim, and it actually felt more like some sort of movie theater. This photo reminds me of an old Weegee photo. Cooooool!"

Jeremy Laing, 8:40 a.m. "Uh...this was an early one! Jeremy and the models look a bit nonplussed."

Kai Kühne, 7:45 p.m. "This show was really so good! Loved this shot of the models backstage. The accessories for the show (seen in the foreground) were amazing."

VPL, 1:00 p.m. "This is what fashion week is like…uh, metaphorically."

Zero + Maria Cornejo, 10:50 a.m. "She looks pretty cool, I'd say."

Kai Kühne, 8:15 p.m. "The crowd at Kai's show was pretty serious...lots of great characters."

Benjamin Cho, 6:10 p.m. Backstage was a bit crazier than usual. Upon arrival, my assistant Kim and I were instantly bombarded with publicists for the hair and make-up artists. What?!?! Maybe if I had one of those I wouldn't be unemployed either! Ha!"
