Peter Pilotto's Resort Collection Is Far Out & Far East, All At Once
And, they’ve done it again. Mastering the art of print, design duo Peter Pilotto debuted a colour-heavy collection for resort ‘14, filled with graphic prints and Japanese motifs.
Whereas last season the pair explored beading and embellishment, this time round they looked to the art of architecture — giving way to a more urban collection of sharp shapes, linear patterns, and a sort of optical-illusion effect. Citing the craftsmanship and control of the Japanese as a strong influence, their motifs depict ikebana flowers and shapes steal elements from the kimono.
And while a monochrome palette underpins the collection, a hearty use of colour highlights spans the spectrum, with oranges, bright limes, and blue-based florals seen throughout. Elsewhere, textures and new textiles are explored. There’s silk waffles, cotton cloques, and sophisticated sheeny jacquards.
Oh, and that lace suit? Yes please.
