People Shop More As Temperatures Rise

It's freakin' miserable outside. The 100+ temperatures in Manhattan have driven many to take root in front of any air conditioner unit they can find. But during this weekend, many found respite in some of the city's largest refrigerators: Stores. Planalytics reports that during this weeks' heat wave, businesses in the eastern 2/3 of the U.S. saw double-digit increases in sales. The most surprising part—shoppers were even buying fall merchandise like boots despite the temperature. You kids are crazy. Even researching anything thicker than a Kleenex makes us break out in a heat rash. Temperatures are supposed to hover around 90 degrees for at least the next ten days, so make sure you stop by the ATM at some point in preparation. Lucky for you, we hear that banks are ACed, also.
