English Beat: 10 Reasons To Love London Fashion Week

By: Erin Donnelly

Keywords:

We came, we saw, we got the goodie bag. Though London Fashion Week has been deemed by naysayers as the red-headed stepchild of the fashion calendar, this season's schedule delivered everything we could ask for: top-notch collections, A-list parties with an open bar and—drumroll please—Janet Jackson. Below, a handful of our favorite moments, London-style.

1. Linda Farrow & Roisin Murphy Party

A colorful crowd crammed into AURA on Sunday night to toast Linda Farrow's latest collaboration with singer/fashion show fixture Roisin Murphy, making the duo's sunglasses less of a prop and more of a necessity. New mama Murphy performed to the likes of Leigh Lezark, Charles Anastase, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Derek Blasberg, Jasmine Guinness, and gender-benders Jodie Harsh and Andre J., who paired his beard with Heidi braids (as you do). And what of those shades? Let's just say the 24-karat gold-coated half-moon cat-eye sunglasses had us at "cheerio." Photos courtesy of Black Frame.

Party On! Opening Ceremony x Levi's Brings Out NYC's Cutest Cord-Lovin' Kids

By: Kelley Hoffman

Though our Fashion Week dance-card is filling up fast, we managed to squeeze in time to pop by Opening Ceremony last night to celebrate their new collab with Levi's. As always, the SoHo shop was packed with everyone vying to get their hands on the new line of sweet corduroy separates in dusty pastel shades. Along with the spring-ready product and sightings of our fave ladies (Chrissie Miller from Sophomore, Julia Frakes from Bunny Bisous), we couldn't take our eyes off Ryan McGinley's gorgeous campaign photos, which were cleverly woven into rugs. Now, if we could only take one of those home, too.

Interview's 40-Year Anniversary Party: A Blast To The Past

We kinda felt like we were entering Michael Jackson's Bad video last night as we climbed down the service stairs into Good Units, the subterranean, former '30s YMCA space under the Hudson Hotel. No, we weren't getting into a gangster-rumble-dance-off...

We don't need to tell you how awesome we think the Swedes are. Seriously, even their shopping bags are chic. And if it wasn't for all the gorgeous moments our lensman Mr. Newton captured throughout Stockholm Fashion Week, we wouldn't be going on about them so much. But just check out this inspiring photo diary for yourself. We could all take a tip from that red-head who really knows how to rock a great hat.

Party On! Creative Time's Slumber Party Brings Out the Boudoir Chic Out of the Bedroom

We'll take any excuse to wear our jammies out of the house, so when we received our invites to attend Creative Time's Slumber Party fundraiser, we grabbed our usual night's-in outfit (that'd be our robes and eyemasks) for a hoppin' night out. Thrown at the Ace Hotel, there was dancing courtesy of DJ Matt Creed and Fischerspooner, Tarot Card reading, a special screening of Andy Warhol's "Sleep", not to mention a goodie bag packed tight with milk and cookies. You can bet that Terence Koh, Victorial Bartlett, Arden Wohl, and Anne Slowey came out to let their hair down, hike their elastic-waist shorts up, and get down with the rest of the sleepy set. Click through for pictures of the comfiest themed party of the year--and no worries, there's plenty to look at to guarantee that you won't be the first kid to fall asleep!

By: Connie Wang

At last night's Save Fashion men's shopping event hosted by Thrillist, we saw to it that the lads got as much love as we ladies do. Fueled on Amstel Light and Chairman's Reserve rum, guys grabbed as much Band of Outsiders, Steven Alan, Rogan, Rick Owens Slab (and more!) as their credit cards could handle. Didn't make it? Our sale runs until this Sunday, so make sure to stop by Inven.tory at 237 Lafayette between 10 am and 9 pm to get your shop on!

Party On! A Beer-Fueled Shopping Frenzy at Save Fashion Round 2

save-fashion-2-1.jpg

Despite the dark kishkies under our eyes, we still can't wipe the huge grins off our faces from the blowout that was Save Fashion's launch party last night. The fashion army fought off the hurricane-esque winds and teetered over to SoHo's Inven.tory for the sale's kick off, where we had already been camped out for hours setting up camp. In between sipping (ok, downing) our Amstel beer, we spotted Robert Verdi (slightly random but we love it), Naomi Nevitt (who was guarding an adorable Vena Cava skirt with her life), Frank Tell, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, Samantha Pleet, Abigail Lorick, and many more. If you couldn't make it, we took plenty of pictures for your viewing pleasure (and sneak a look at the inventory still left!). While there's no booze remaining to speak of, we left some goodies for you to cop!
