Party On! An Old-Meets-New School Celebration of the 93-year-old Fashionista
Last night a hat-clad crowd gathered at the Algonquin Hotel to celebrate the fabulous Mimi Weddell and the release of Hats Off, a documentary profiling the 93-year-old actress/model/personality extraordinaire. While others were nibbling and sipping, we popped over for a quick chat with the guest of honor herself. We were dying to know her fave designers, which turned out to be Givenchy, Chanel, and Balenciaga: "I buy things straight out of the shows sometimes - a nasty little habit that I can legitimize these days," she snickered. Ms. Weddell claims music and champagne are two of the best secrets to staying young, and her fashion pet-peeve? "I can't stand to see rear-ends falling out of pants—it's always a nightmare on the bus. Rear-ends hanging out left and right."
