On the Inside With Band of Outsiders
We never got our tickets for the CFDA Awards on Tuesday night (lost in the mail?). That's okay, we were too busy prepping our official rollout day (thanks for joining us by the way) to make the ceremonies. Luckily, we've received a brief party report from Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg—a fine fellow and the recipient of this year's CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear. As if we couldn't have predicted that.
Here's Scott's loaded itinerary for the night:
8:40 pm: Receive Swarovski Award for Menswear. Yay!
10:45 pm: Leave awards with Thakoon, Tina Chai, Damien Nunes, head uptown.
11:03 pm: Arrive at Dries Van Noten's party at the Carlyle.
12:15 am: Stop by Gold Bar—or something like that—quickly for Candy Pratt Price's party.
12:30 am: Daimen and I meet up with [Swarovski Award for Accessory Design winner] Philip Crangi at Black and White where Kate and Laura [Mulleavy of Rodarte, winners of the Swarovski Award for Womenswear] were celebrating.
2:45am: Crash at my friend Wendy's apartment.
Sounds like a lovely evening, Scott. Congratulations and we hope you managed to catch some sleep on your flight back to L.A.
And, if you ever wanted to know what an award-winner sees once his name is announced, just click below and enjoy our virtual scramble to the stage provided by Mr. Sternberg. It's almost certainly as close as you'll ever get to winning Swarovski Award for Menswear (you know, unless you're Tim Hamilton or something).
