Last night, Greg Armas' smart Lower East Side men's shop, Assembly, and Archetype Showroom played host to a bona fide mixed bag of downtown scenesters (Nylon's Jared Flint and Mike Townsend of Ethan James Group), pretty girl editrixes (Teen Vogue's Mary Kate Steinmiller, Lauren McGrath, and Naomi Nevitt) and everything in between (stylist Kate Young and jewelry designer Justin Guinta) for the opening reception celebrating Gareth Moody's Spring 2009 collection for Chronicles of Never. History lesson: Moody was once part of the uber-cool Aussie trio that created the cult label Ksubi—formerly known as Tsubi.

The party was backed by Svetka and New Castle. Lukewarm vodka soda anyone? Not that we're complaining. The heat inside Assembly was enough to make any Editorial Assistant into an instant hot mess—but we thought about it as sauna treatment on the cheap. Cool bottles of Newcastle helped us keep cool and smiling. The atmosphere was one well-edited house party (equipped with a jam-band belting out tunes), and three parts oversized pressure cooker. But despite the tropic temperatures, the crowd remained loyal and lively 'til the end.
