The Riptide
Yes, it's chilly out there by the ocean, which is why the fireplace at The Riptide bar is especially charming (and appreciated). The lodge-y space, built in 1941, boasts an addictive jukebox, stiff drinks (starting at 4 p.m.), and an action-packed events calendar that includes live music and DIY grilled cheese nights. Yep, you read that last part correctly.
The Riptide, 3639 Taraval Street (between 46th and 47th avenues); 415- 681-TIDE.
