For those looking to give their summer manicures some staying power, celebrity manicurist Pattie Yankee has a few sneaky tips. "The summer heat makes it difficult to polish at home as the warmer temperatures make the polish dry faster, so it may streak or not flow as well," she says. To prevent this, Yankee recommends applying your nail color in a cool, well-ventilated area and sealing it with a top coat to hide any streaks or smudges.
Yankee also warns that the sun can oxidize lighter colors, causing them to fade or turn yellow. She suggests choosing a top coat that features UV protection to help guard your color and keep it fresh.
