Pendleton x Opening Ceremony, Take 2! Spring Looks Pretty in Plaid

Lounging in sand dunes, bicycling alongside beach grass, and frolicking on the beach sounds pretty enticing right about now, and we're oh-so-thankful for the Pendleton meets Opening Ceremony spring '10 lookbook for giving us a taste of warmer days. The serene shore-side setting is the perfect backdrop to the plaid-tastic pieces (we can't decide which we love more--the locale or the pieces!). Obviously beach grass and sand dunes aside, we're crazy about the mixed plaid patterns and that navajo jacket and miniskirt combo. Plus, we're hoping that by the time the collection debuts in a few months, we'll be the first in line for that jacket/backpack franken-accessory.

The Top Ten Store Openings of 2009
Fact: We love to shop. Creative, well-curated merchandise really puts the dollar-sign sparkle in our eyes. And as boutique owners get more innovative with their inventory, we're pegging targets on our radar where our enthused consumer tendencies can be put to good use. And despite all the bitter 2009 economy talk, it was a sweet year for new store openings, not to mention a handful of expansions on our pre-existing favorites. The best of the best popped up in New York, L.A., and, surprise!, Tokyo. Here we highlight our top ten, and raise our glasses to a new year of micro-economics!

Shopping is getting good in the L.E.S., and No. 8b is definitely one more reason to stroll downtown on pay-day. This offshoot of boutique No. 8 is a menswear-stocking sibling, armed with a variety of local and global labels in clothing and accessories, from Raf Simons for Eastpak to Natalia Brilli of Paris. Where the Wild Things Are Inspires Some Fur-rociously Fashionable Gear

No joke: One of our roommates came home yesterday wearing Opening Ceremony's full-length Where the Wild Things Are Max Suit, and even though he was down half a grand with a bushy raccoon tail between his legs, the grin on his face proved all the justification needed. Cooler than a Snuggie and more timely to boot, the adult-sized onesie is one of those things that buys you some major street cred. Not feeling like having a 24/7 sleepover? There's tons more hairy options from Opening Ceremony including a draped fur vest, a mohair coat, a seriously fuzzy full skirt, and a cropped version of the Max Suit. Not to miss the bandwagon, Urban Outfitters created a line of their own as well as sneaker label Lakai, and Space 15 Twenty in L.A. that launched an entire pop-up store dedicated to the storybook-cum-movie. With creative merch at tons of price-points, there's no reason you shouldn't be getting your Wild Thing on.

First Look! Chloë Sevigny and Opening Ceremony Do Japan
Opening Ceremony is a retail NYC staple with it's quirky inventory and mad hatter goods. But a new store opening across the globe will teach us to learn how to play nice and share. Opening in the Shibuya area of Tokyo in 10 days, the new Japan location will feature similar brands but in a decidedly Japanese layout with mini brand-based stalls and an in-house concept restaurant (we're loving the rendered images with diorama-style shopping areas that feel like a chicer version of Peewee's playhouse). In celebration, a slew of short films were made to coordinate with the August 30th opening featuring Jena Malone and Jason Schwartzman. We've got the first of the batch starring a fresh-faced Chloë Sevigny. Enjoy!
Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony, Revisited and Looking Better Than Ever!

We're loving these behind the scenes candid shots of Chloë Sevigny modeling her own collection for Opening Ceremony. Styled by Chloë herself, she channels everything from a jaunty, menswear-loving garçonne to a grungy Soul Asylum-era runaway, backpack included. And those buckled ankle wedges are still looking just as delectable as the moment we first laid eyes on them. (Opening Ceremony)
First Look! Opening Ceremony's Fall Lookbook Makes Staying Warm Look So Cool

We just received Opening Ceremony's fall '09 lookbook, shot by Richard Kern, and even the 90+ temps outside can't stop us from day-dreaming about these goods. In addition to updated black classics for girls (an asymmetrical wrap dress, a slouchy tie front blazer), there are plenty of practical yet undeniably chic options for bundling up, like an oversized furry cardigan, an athletic gray crewneck that looks borrowed from the boyfriend, and a printed sweater with enormous funnel neck. For the dudes, prep meets woodsman in a structured blazer layered over a flannel with elbow patch or quilted button-down paired with ribbed thermal. And as for that Pendleton collab--well, the classic heritage brand has never looked cooler...or more of-the-moment. But why keep going? We'll let the pictures do the talking.

Opening Ceremony's Newest Models Are Their Cutest and Cuddliest Yet

We think Opening Ceremony may have just found our ideal man: He's cute, cuddly, huggable, lovable, and wears dapper bow ties. Yes, that's right, the geniuses behind the boutique's e-commerce site have scouted up some fur-riffic bulldogs to model Alexander Olch's fun line of bow ties, which we think is the best marketing strategy we've ever seen. Sure the ties may go for over $100, but just think: This is a man who started making them as thank you gifts for the crew of his senior thesis film at Harvard! There's nothing more preppy (or Ivy League) about that. And don't those polka dots just pop against the dog's white fur? Now our only question is: What do you think his rate is? With those facial expressions, he'll be calling up Linda's $10,000 a day in no time...
