Sequined Downpours: Orange Rains at Debut
For designer Angela Chen, all the rain we've been getting must come as a blessing. Chen's emergent line Orange—currently sold at NoLIta boutique Debut—is inspired by both the rainy season in her native Taiwan and the ceaseless drizzle in her adopted city of Vancouver.
A series of three black, hand-knit dresses interwoven with sequins reminds of "the dark grey sky and how the rain falls in different tempos," says Chen, and the simple, feminine silhouettes pay homage to the melancholy beauty she sees in a gentle rainfall. A little rain never hurt now did it? We'll wear this delicate, sophisticated collection rain or shine.
