Art Deco goes evening in a little after-hours carryall. By Valery Joseph
These days, it can be tough to remember the times when design ruled over status, at least where your handbag was concerned. So, it's refreshing to see a quaint carryall that can still go small on dimensions but big on impact.
Milanese designer Miki Thumb whipped up one of our favorite party-primed totes this season—available in a jewel-toned aubergine suede as well as black or brown patent—this versatile shoulder bag could make anyone want to scale back their belongings and travel a little lighter for day or evening. Boasting a bold, art deco-inspired clasp and elegant, totally timeless design (plus, the of-the-moment extra-long strap can be removed to create a clutch), the diminutive bag can go just about anywhere. And with an equally mini price tag, this small wonder also makes a great gift on the go.
Miki Thumb chain link purse, $269, available in Brooklyn at Butter (in brown and black) , 389 Atlantic Avenue; 718-260-9033. Available in Los Angeles at Vamp Shoes (in brown and purple), 2841 Hyperion Avenue; 323-662-1150.
