Eat Well & Do Good Post-Sandy—Here's How!

Whether you were hit hard by last week's Hurricane or barely lost power, most New Yorkers are starting to feel a little Sandy-induced cabin fever. Get out of the house and lend a hand by visiting one of the many New York restaurants donating to the relief. Between the five boroughs, there are more than enough restos donating proceeds from sales, so you can enjoy guilt-free dining all month long.

As if we needed another reason to head to the 'Shack, Shake Shack will be donating $2 from every black-and-white cookie shake (how very New York) to the Red Cross. Visit one of the restaurants six NYC locations through November 11 for your very own Rally Shack.

Iconic treatery Big Gay Ice Cream is donating half of its sales today to the Ali Forney Center to help rebuild its drop-in center.

Astoria hotspot The Queens Kickshaw is donating 100% of all profits today to the American Red Cross. Visit the restaurant all day for guilt-free dining and stay late for live music from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Pies 'n' Thighs may have had to cancel its much-anticipated Halloween festivities, but they're making up for it by donating $1 from every chicken-and-pork box throughout the month of November to the Red Cross.

No matter where you go, don't forget the staff that took trains, buses, and cabs (and waited in line for trains, buses, and cabs) and consider taking a queue from the blog, Eat Down. Tip Up. The newest Sandy phenom urges New Yorkers to eat downtown and tip double — and, yes, brag about it by posting a photo on Tumblr later.
