The No-Makeup Makeup Look You Need To Try

Let’s just tell it like it is: The no-makeup makeup look isn’t new. For starters, it’s been around since before makeup was even invented (obviously) and it’s been dubbed as a trend on and off the runways so many times that we couldn't even count if we wanted to. But, recently — thanks to designers ditching overly painted mugs at the spring 2015 shows, makeup-free ads, and a rash of celebrity #NoMakeupSelfies that keep breaking the Internet — the au naturel look is back with a serious vengeance. We spotted this stunning minimalist look on the streets and had to get to the bottom of it. Naturally, we’re showing you how to nail it yourself.

The key to this is, of course, a flawless complexion. If you don't have it, fake it, says makeup artist Ashleigh Ciucci, by using a sponge or brush to apply a lightweight foundation, like COVERGIRL truBLEND Liquid Makeup, all over your face. Then, dab concealer only to mask any redness you may have around your eyes and nose. Finally, add some definition and warmth (because we’re not getting any thanks to Mother Nature) just below your cheekbones with a pressed powder that's two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Using a darker powder is a subtler way to contour than using bronzer, says Ciucci — especially since there isn't any telltale shimmer or glitter.
To finish, fill in the brows with a pencil, swipe on a defining mascara like COVERGIRL Full Lash Bloom, and tap on some lip balm. Now, you've got the perfect (almost) makeup-free look to keep you trending even past the season. Sorry, we can't do anything about that weather, though.
