Street Style Of The Day: A Sunny Disposition

street-style-embed

There's no bigger Fashion Week buzzkill than gray, gross, and chilly-to-the-bone weather. That's why we loved to see this sidewalk beauty taking advantage of yesterday's unseasonably comfortable weather, and adding on a few citrus pops of colors for a truly sunny outlook. Mixing prints and patterns, brights and fringe, she's got a clean-cut look that packs a small, but impactful, punch.

Street Style Of The Day: Peony Lim's Decadent Pantsuit

peony-embed

Maybe it's because we're rounding the corner to Valentine's Day, or because we've been eating too many granola bars these past few days, but Peony Lim's perfect-fit pantsuit is a chocolate-y dream. Growling stomachs aside, we're huge fans of Peony's ability to rock this menswear-inspired look and still soften up the edge via velvet, fringe, and a few cascading curls.

Street Style Of The Day: Match Your Pumps To Your Pants

020912_MarissaWebb_MG_0470_MarkIantosca

As illustrated by Fashion Week-goer and entrepeneur Marissa Webb, an ordinary trench can be made way-extraordinary with a bright pant and a matching Manolo Blahnik pump. It's the classic Audrey Helpburn silhouette, but with a acid-bright spin... and one that we can't wait to recreate.

The Best Street Style Looks From NYC's Coolest Vintage Show

Letting us loose in this weekend's Manhattan Vintage Show was like letting a Real Housewife play with the equipment at a cosmetic surgery junket: We wanted to have it all and couldn't get enough. Yes, we even took pause to admire the outfits on shoppers and vendors— nothing seemed off limits. And other fashionable notables like Lynn Yeager and Hamish Bowles agreed. So we just had to get in there, get snap-happy, and bring you our fave outfits from the two-day event (and then, of course, we just had to circle back the next day to pick up a few items of our own, too).

Click through to check out how fellow vintage fanatics got down 'n' dirty this weekend.

Inside R29: This Week, We Get Lippy!

Sometimes, all you need to lighten your mood is a little pop of color. And what better way to display a bright hue than to sport it as plain as the nose (or the lips) on your face? To be clear: We're way into vibrant lips this season. We oooh and ahhh as we open slender boxes of punchy pinks and red-oranges, and can't seem to stop re-applying when we head out at night. Check out how we made it pop this week, and, if you get inspired, there's only one thing left to do: Pucker up!

Street Style: Take An NYC Standby Up A Notch

Rachel-Scott,-model-2_TracyWang

The "New Yorkers always wear black" myth resonates most loudly during winter. Sometimes it's true, we feel a distinct pull towards dark colors, often rushing to the dressing room with various garments in the same hue. It's not necessarily a purposeful thing, but test our weekly wardrobe and you'll find the shade pervasive in our looks (and closets).

So, while it's not unusual to peep a great all-black ensemble on these streets, model Rachel Scott got our attention for nailing the look in an entirely effortless way. Black leggings? Check. Black lace up boots? Check. Long black coat, bag, and scarf? Check and check and check. What really works here is the variation of shades and textures, with Rachel's sheer, navy dress. We love the way color combo and the lightness of the fabric really breaks up the rest of her outfit. Plus, there's no better way to highlight a perfect red lip than with the NYC uniform. We're into it— so sue us!

Inside R29: We Don't Sweat(er) The Small Stuff

Lately, the weather in NYC has been like a bad relationship: hot and balmy one minute, frigid and dreary the next. But we can't let that get us down. Instead, we're layering up with lush sweaters that will never leave us out in the cold. In pops of color, winter white, or basic cable, these warm 'n' cozy top options kept us toasty all week long. And if we ever got a little too warm in here, we could always go outside for a nice bone-chilling breeze (don't worry sweaters, we're not breaking up with you!).

Click through for six of our favorite sweaters this week.

Inside The W's Street Style Exhibit (Sartorial Inspiration, Anyone?)

It's no secret we're more than a little obsessed with street style (come on, who could forget our step-by-step guide to getting shot by Scott?), but it's not often we come across such a well-curated collection of snaps. Enter: "Scene on the Street," one of the sickest sets of swag-documentation we've seen. It's a collaboration between photographer Adam Katz Sinding of Le 21ème Arrondissement, Elle's Sydney Wasserman, and (who else?) the fashion fiends at the W Hotels. The collection in question leaves no fashion fan behind: leather lovers, Wang-worshippers, Lanphearites, and denim devotees unite! Plus, not only are the outfits styled, studded, and layered to perfection, the subjects are equally as gorgeous as the photos. Like.

Click through for a few examples of what to expect (and what to wear) at the exhibition event.

Thursday, February 2nd at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., W Times Square New York - The Living Room, 1567 Broadway (between 46th and 47th streets); 212-930-7447. ‎

Street Style: It's Easy Being Green

anna-li-photographer-phototracywang

As hard as it is to pull of green hair (and it's, uh, really hard), photographer, Anna Li is rocking the ombre effect with confidence and ease, which is why we couldn't help but notice her strutting her stuff in Williamsburg. The trick here is that she's not letting her bold hair limit the rest of her outfit. Moss and mint might otherwise clash, but, for some reason, the pastel palette of her outfit only highlights the pop of her hair even more (but you already know we dig camel coats). Plus, when you finish off an otherwise rather simple look with leopard booties, orange sunnies, and a perfect black topper, it's hard to go wrong. What do you think of Anna's daring look? As always, tell us in the comments below!

What We're Wearing: Natasha Takes The Year 1 Book At A Time

natasha-embed

Natasha Ivankovitser, Brand Integration Manager

What I'm Wearing: "DKNY booties, ASOS leather skirt, Inhabit sweater, Bleifrei coat."

My New Year's Resolution: "I'm making them up as the year progresses, and right now I'm keeping it simple by aiming to read at least one book a month. I would also love to plan a big trip this year to somewhere in Scandinavia or South America."

My first big purchase in 2012: "I just booked a flight to Los Angeles for my friend's wedding, and I think my next purchase will be a Kindle to take along on the plane (which will help me with the resolution)."

The one movie I can watch endlessly on repeat: "This is tough since movies are my favorite, but at the moment I will say The Apartment with Jack Lemmon — I just watched it the other day for the 100th time and it always makes me smile."

Street Style: Banish Your SAD With Sumptuous Pops Of Color

Juliet James Winter Street Style

You know those days right at the cusp of January and February, when the thought of peeling yourself out from under that double-lined goose-down comforter only to wrap yourself in dull lumberjack flannel and Gortex seems just about as appealing as making out with a poisonous snake? Well, turn off the Elliott Smith, put those vitamin-D sun lamps away, and for god's sake, take off those sad, sad long johns right this minute, because we happened across Juliet James, the perfect sartorial specimen to banish all your winter wardrobe woes.

From the crisp, blanche fedora atop windblown winter tresses to her rich ruby-red lip and ultra-femme plum suede lace-ups, this neat-'n'-tidy girl's got staying on the sunny side of dressing down pat. And, if you happened to peep that jade-green stunner on her finger, those jaunty heather cable-knit tights, and that cozy, bright-white shawl she's so deftly wrapped in, you'd quickly see that the devil's in the details for cheery dressing — even in the darkest months of the calendar.

You tell us: Is Juliet killing you softly, or would you rather keep things on the muted side during Old Man Winter's visit? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
