Here's Giorgio Armani Shirtless In WSJ. We Ask, How Is He 77??

rmaniembed We might not exactly look forward to getting older, but at least Giorgio Armani's WSJ spread (online today, on newsstands Saturday) gives us a glimmer of hope. The guy's obviously talented, but at 77-years-young, he's also a bonafide (shirtless) stud! And a bonafide, smart stud at that, telling WSJ about how, "fashion makes no sense, unless it serves the primary purpose of dressing people." Seems practical to us, no? All too practical for a guy that has two large onyx panthers in his entry hall and "a larger-than-life statue of a Roman god in his gym." Now we're just wondering if the deity was sculpted after him...let's hope it's bronze, too! Click through for more soundbites from the interview, including Armani's health secrets (Demi Moore's plastic surgeon? We joke) and the future of his biz. (WSJ)

My Style: Inside Genevieve Jones' Stellar Soho Loft (And Closet!)

You always see her in Vogue. She's been snapped by Billy Farrell and co. more times than we can count. Zac Posen and Lauren Santo Domingo are in her inner circle. The It girl in question is known other than ultimate jet-setter Genevieve Jones, whose glam outfits — always just the perfect amount of offbeat — have been inspiring our vintage shopping habits since she moved here from Louisiana. More than just a social butterfly, the Southern transplant has translated her unique style, or "Fashion forward classic!" as she describes it, into an eponymous jewelry line (and now handbags!) that channels her globe-trotting and understated decadence. Sold at influential boutiques like The Webster and Collette, Jones' creations, like the iconic safety pin earrings, have been spied on trendsetters like Kate Moss and Rihanna. To get in on her dressing secrets, we toured the designer's airy Lafayette Street loft, where Jones tried on her favorite outfits, a copy-worthy mix of high and low; think jaw-dropping bejeweled A.F. Vandevorst shoes paired with Zara jeans, or vintage Morton Myles accompanied by Canal Street earrings. With a backdrop as eclectic as the ensembles — a giant stuffed peacock! psychedelic skateboards!— we may have asked Gen if she needed a roommate to crash on that giant tie-dyed day bed. Hey, we'll let her borrow our clothes, too.

Designer Bikes: Coach Takes It To The Streets On Two (Chic) Wheels

coachbike1

A bicycle built for two is nice, but a chic bike built by Coach is nicer. And the proof is in the photos of their new campaign. Shot by Bridget Fleming of Downtown From Behind, the images depict a realistic (but so serene) NYC, one where the streets open up in front of you as you glide down an empty avenue in all Coach gear. But as dreamy and distant as this all seems, Coach helps us believe that if we wear their springtime offerings, this picturesque New York is possible. Either way, we agree on one thing: with these cross body bags and brightly colored satchels, it's way easier to paint the town red (or erm, candy-colored) just in time for the sun. (and the public bike share coming to NYC in July!)

Check out the video campaign below for good ridin' in action.

Lady Gaga Rocks The Biggest Ponytail Of All Time

Gaga, Gaga, Gaga. Just look at that hair. Seems she's back to her old tricks, except, unfortunately, her attempt to go sky-high may have only weighed her down. Was the original style meant to be vertical? Did she accidentally knock it on the roof of the car when she made her grand entrance in the Philippines, where she is currently continuing her world tour? Either way, we're beginning to see a pattern of confusing (if not gravity-defying) choices.

Since its inception, the Haus of Gaga (the team that created this Mother Monster Pony) has been pushing the boundaries of style and art, modeling themselves after Warhol's Factory. And now, apparently, the days of the disco sticks are long gone. Does this mean long live a future of untamed, frizzy, horizontal ponies that (due to lack of hair, helping hands, and supplies) we'll never be able to master, even if we wanted to? It looks to us like her neck muscles are straining just to keep this style up, and we bet she was pretty sore when she woke up the next morning. Let us know: When it comes to this stallion of a 'do are you in or are you out? (MTV)

Karen Walker Serves Up The Only Calorie-Free Candy Bar We Actually Want

If someone promised you a candy bar and you later came to find out it was calorie free, you'd be bummed, no? We'd be livid, too. But, thanks to one of our fave designers (and sunglass-crafter extraordinaire), Karen Walker, we've got one cool candy bar that delivers more than you'd expect, while still leaving the calories behind.

See, after selling out collections worldwide, Ms. Walker is taking her eye-wares on the road for a twelve-month-long journey around the world. Her traveling "Candy Bar" will pop up in retail stores, allowing shoppers to treat themselves to five new limited-edition candy-colored frames.

Watch Our Exclusive Clip From The J.Crew Doc (Before It Airs!)

On Thursday night, CNBC will premiere a new behind-the-scenes documentary called J.Crew and the Man Who Dressed America, detailing how J.Crew has become, well, the retailer that does in fact dress a large part of our nation. From preppy suburbanites to NYC editors — and everyone in between — we're all rocking their disctint styles. Yes, the brand has come into consciousness as one of the U.S.'s major go-tos, and the CNBC television effort seeks to know why (in a bit of The September Issue type of way). The doc seems to credit (at least in part) CEO Mickey Drexler's "obsessive attention to detail," and Executive Creative Director Jenna Lyons' relentless work ethic and inventive eye for style. Just check out the exclusive clip below, which shows Jenna as she pieces together one of their "Style Guides" (note, we did not say catalogues) with its head editor, punning all the way. Then tune in on Thursday night to follow the J.Crew uh, crew, from Italy to NYC to CNBC and see why we constantly crush on the brand (and why their revenue is up nearly 170%).

Role Model: Karlie Kloss Raises Over $58,000 For AIDS

Adding to her list of accomplishments that would inspire anyone (or make them jealous, or both), Karlie Kloss raised over $58,000 for AIDS charities at Sunday's AIDS Walk New York. But really, what doesn't this model do? At just 19 (yep, you read that right), Kloss can already claim the titles ballerina, model, style icon, Olympian (just kidding), and, now, she can add philanthropist to the list (on top of being a normal teenager, that is). Marching with fashion BFF Jason Wu and wearing Juicy Couture activewear, Kloss led team Step Forward to charitable victory, with some help from Juicy in the form of a hefty donation. Along with 45,000 other participants, Karlie contributed to the $6,014,822 total raised for over 40 AIDS charities — talk about a model citizen! (WWD)

3 Floral Dress DIYs That Anyone Can Master

We live in dresses all summer long. Repeat that three times. But, despite the abundance of sweet frocks hanging in our closets, we still search and search for something fresh to appear. You know, a new dress that fits effortlessly and doesn't leave us scrambling for rent money. So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and make that dream dress ourselves — yes, make one.

By picking up a seemingly ill-fitting, thrift-shop throwaway and crafting it just so, you can end up with your sartorial soul mate for a fraction of the price you'd pay at your favorite boutique, thanks to our amazing DIY team. To keep it simple, we eliminated the bells and whistles (and jump rings, and fancy clasps) and replaced them with just one necessary tool: your household scissors. The result? Three one-of-a-kind frocks and the bragging rights to say "I made it myself."

Click through for a trio of super-easy floral dress DIYs and expand your wardrobe 3-fold.

Street Style: A Comfy-Casual Look For Summer Nights

Nina-Young-(student)_TracyWangembed

As the weather heats up, layers tend to come off and skirts tend to get shorter. But that doesn't always have to be the case. When we saw Nina Young's covered-up yet still summery look, we knew it was not only comfortable, but also a great evening outfit for when the sun goes down on summer nights. Yes, it still gets chilly! With light fabric, layers are still a great option and allow you to play with pieces of your wardrobe from every season. Plus, we love the idea of using a maxi skirt as a laid-back option to help transition from morn to midnight. And, it's soooo easy to pack (weekend getaways, anyone?). We think get-up is boho but still styled to perfection. But what say you? A little too hippy or awesomely understated? Tell us in the comments below!

Langoliers' New Collection Gives Us Major Gem Envy & Nail-Art Inspiration

After peeping their latest lookbook, it's patently obvious that New York based-jewelry house Langoliers is killing it yet again with their new collection, RED. Designers Pamela Liou (a former R29 contributor!) and Zon Chu's latest collection includes geometric bangles, bat-wing bibs and earrings, and those twisted chains that made us fall in love with Langoliers in the first place.

Beyond being filled with covetable arm, ear, and neck candy, the lookbook serves up some pretty rad styling tips, as well — takeaways include a ring on each finger (including knuckle and mid-finger rings), bangle layering, and a badass black-and-silver triangle mani that gave us major DIY-spiration the moment we saw it.

Click through the slideshow to get involved with the entired RED by Langoliers line , and prepare to be break out the nail polish, STAT.

Kelly Clarkson Comes To NYC, Impresses Us (Really)

kelly-clarkson-style

So, yeah, obviously we're impressed. We've always liked Kelly Clarkson's no-bull attitude on everything from her sexuality to Hollywood's unhealthy weight standards — she's not into posing for Us Weekly, and we're pushing the Facebook "like" button on that.

To be honest, though, we've never looked to the American Idol star for sartorial inspiration: In the past, "Miss Independent" has favored all-black ensembles, halter tops, and baggy T-shirts. But, whoa, is KC currently having a style renaissance of sorts? We spotted her at the ABC upfronts in NYC, promoting her new show, Duets, sporting a chic floral dress with a metal Mango belt, simple, beige Aldo wedges, and clean hair and makeup — and a rocking a healthy glow. "A moment like this," indeed....
